Activity 302: Learning about CSS

Changing things within the CSS code to display things differently, layout of the CSS is easy to read and understand. Lots of changes can be made within the code the change things dramatically. (cant upload to Wiki for some reason…)

Activity 301: Advantages of CSS

CSS is primary used for the design aspect of a website, unlike HTML which can be used for many different things, CSS is a good way to change the design of a website without affecting the HTML content. As CSS is primarily used for design it is a lot cleaner to use CSS for the design aspect of a website rather than HTML, as things can be changed throughout a page rather than changing every little thing with HTML.

Activity 203: Using Web 2.0 Publishing

Facebook

Facebook is great for publishing and getting people to see what you want to say, people (as long as they have a facebook account and the right to post on your page) can comment on what has been said and contribute something to the discussion in doing so. Facebook is really an informal way of publishing, as it is more of a social networking site to discuss things with friends and as a means of communication for people, it’s not something you would typically use for posting a large amount of text too and to really get your word out to the masses (like a blog).

• Advantages – Facebook is free and easy to set up and rather easy to use with a lot of settings that can be changed depending on what you want people to see and who is allowed to see your facebook page and comment on discussions.

• Disadvantages – You need to add people in order for them to see what you have published, which can be a problem if you have posted something and someone wants to see what you have published but they do not have the right to see it yet, which means waiting for the friend request, so you would have to be by a computer to accept their friend request before they can see it, and by that time, it might not even matter about contributing to the discussion.

Youtube

Youtube is a good way and one of the best ways to publish videos on the internet, as it has been around a lot longer than a lot of other video sites it has been able to keep progressing as far as what the users want.

• Advantages – one of the best video uploading sites with a large amount of users. Easy to use, in both publishing videos, editing video details and looking for videos. Videos use keywords in video details so it is rather easy to search for videos using keywords.

• Disadvantages – it is only a website used for publishing videos, where as things like facebook has both text based publishing as well as video uploading.
